Pipetech Summit 2009

PSICON together with Filtermaster Mexico particated at the Pipetech Summit 2009 from 15-17 June in Cyprus

One of the featured topics of the Pipetech Summit was black powder (metal particles) found in pipe systems and challenges the pipe line operators and gas companies are facing with black powder in the their pipe systems.

Presentations were given by experts/scientists in the field of black powder and presentations on how black powder was effecting the reliabilty of the pipelines in many places in the world.

Black Powder was also the main reason for Psicon BV to participate in this summit as we have dedicated systems to remove black powder, infact we provide the worlds only dedicated black powder filter systems.

At the summit we showed a display of our line of our magnetic filtration solutions.

We also gave a formal presentation to all delegates on the use of magnetic filtration solutions to remove black powder from pipeline systems.

It was good to have in depth face to face discussions with on one hand the experts/scientist and on the other hand to talk to pipeline operators and gas companies. We knew black powder is a challenge these days but we had not idea how big the problem really is.

It was good to learn that pipeline operators and gas companies are really open and interested in the use of magnetic filters as obviously the commonly used cartridge and cyclone filters have strong limitations in black powder situations.

Psicon Quickship Turbine Delivery Success

Psicon successfully deliveres a reconditioned Coppus turbine in 3 weeks

A refinery in Poland ordered a vertical sump pump driven by a Dresser-Coppus turbine (RLVA16) to be installed during a plant stop in June 2008. Unfortunately Dresser had a major delay in delivery time resulting in a major problem for the Polish Refinery plant operations.

In May this year Psicon was asked to supply a reconditioned (0-houred) identical turbine in the shortest possible time. The turbine had to be including heat insulation and tested.

In the end Psicon was able to deliver a complete rebuild identical turbine, fully warranted within 3 weeks including the transport to Poland matching the plant stop requirements.

The customer commented they would not have noticed a difference between a new turbine and the reconditioned turbine from Psicon.

Dresser will still deliver the new turbine in due course but that unit now will be used as a spare.
